The call for applications issued by the government in 2014 for the label of “Métropole French Tech” is aimed at French metropolitan areas with a desire to promote and develop their digital economies at an international level. At the end of the labelling process (in the second half of 2014), French Tech will gather together the most promising of French digital economies. In addition, €200m is to be invested in private acceleration programmes to assist the growth of digital businesses and €15m in the promotion of French Tech worldwide.

Steering is provided by the National French Tech Commission, within the Ministry of Economy for Productive Recovery and Digital Technology. As part of the Investing in the Future programme, it is endorsed by the financial operator Caisse des Dépôts which coordinates the actions of Bpifrance, for the support of acceleration programmes, of Ubifrance and of the Invest in France Agency.
